about the studio
s p A r c h was established in 1990 (or so). It has mostly been a one-woman firm, specializing in single-family residential design. Additional “specialties” include planning, multi-family housing and renovations/additions.
From my professional history, I have tried to create a firm that not only reflects my strengths, but also incorporates the aspects of architecture that I have found to be most important. As a result, I do my best to provide my clients with the best possible personal attention and to create spaces for them that meet their needs and at the very least, reference their dreams.
philosophy
As the principal architect, it has been my intention to create timeless environments that my clients will be able to use and enjoy for many years in the future. The primary design theme of my designs is context and every effort is made to have the architecture “fit in” to its surroundings, whether they be urban or rural. This does not mean that the structures are designed to mimic the buildings or topography around them. Instead, they are designed to emulate the scale and massing of their surroundings and to use materials and landscaping that are indigenous to the area in which they are constructed. As you can see from my varied portfolio, I am comforable designing in any style, from Victorian to Modern, as long as the principal elements of the context are employed to achieve the end result.
background
I graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Montana State University in 1987. Since that time I have worked for several firms on a variety of projects ranging from a Post Office and Library for a small firm in Connecticut to multi- and single family homes for a mid-sized firm in Calgary Alberta Canada. I spent over 10 years working in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where the body of my work is located. I now reside in Seattle, Washington, where I am working to establish myself among a very large assembly of talented professionals.

I have found there is a broad range of knowledge and comfort with the design and build process so I strive to work with each person's unique situation to provide the type of service that they require.
